Toxic Waste – What is Toxic Waste – Do We Clean it Up or Illegally Dump it Overseas?
What is Toxic Waste
Toxic waste are poisonous byproducts of manufacturing, farming, construction, farming, city sewage and septic systems, automotive garages and repair shops, laboratories, hospitals, along with other industrial processes. The hazardous waste may come in the form of liquids, solids, or sludge and contain dangerous chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, dangerous pathogens, among other toxins. Households even generate hazardous waste from such common items as old batteries, old computer equipment and other electronics, old paints and pesticides to name several.
There are, in fact, many items in your household that can, and are considered to be toxic waste. To find out which items in your house classify as hazardous waste you can consult the Household Products Database which lists most, if not all of the potential toxic substances in items commonly found in homes. Record Shattering March Heat Wave Surprises Scientists
Temperatures in the U.S. for the lower 48 states averaged 8.6 degrees above normal for March alone and an astonishing 6 degrees higher than average for the entire first three months of the year 2012, according to calculations made by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). That by far exceeds, or shatters in our opinion the existing records.
Some meteorologists who have warned about the effects of global warming have become alarmed at the magnitude of how unusual the year has been in the United States. One climate scientist said the record march heat wave is like the weather equivalent of a baseball player on steroids, with old records being obliterated, like the home run records during the big steroid era in major league baseball. Light Pollution: What is Light Pollution and Why it is Bad
Light pollution is not good and what is light pollution (LP) you may ask? It is not like what we normally associate with pollution, like smoke stacks filling up the air with plumes of dirty, chemical laden billowing pillars of smoke. We also commonly associate it with dirty water, as in oil covered waterways, garbage in the water, or toxins and other waste in our water supplies. Generally speaking, pollution is referred to as an impairment of the purity of the environment with purity referring to the state of the environment in its natural unaltered state.
While those images of pollution are the most thought of and associated with it, one thing we typically do not associate as being pollution as a culture and society is light! We are more bright lights, big cities when it comes to our society and culture at this point in time. Most of us [probably look at the night lights and consider it more as scenery and beauty than as pollution in general. However beautiful and, or not harmful it may seem, there is a dark side to this unnatural phenomenon. Before the industrial revolution and our rapid expanses over the last couple centuries, there was no such thing in existence. It has become the price of progress, but is it a necessary price we must pay for progress? No, it indeed is not, at least not if we don’t want it to be. Greenhouse Gases Cause of Global Warming, Not Sun Activity New NASA Report Confirms

A prolonged solar minimum left the sun's surface nearly free of sunspots and accompanying bright areas called faculae between 2005 and 2010. Total solar irradiance declined slightly as a result, but the Earth continued to absorb more energy than it emit throughout the minimum. An animation of a full solar cycle is available here. (Credit: NASA Goddard's Scientific Visualization Studio)
In a real brief summary, the study concluded:
Improving observations of ocean heat content show that Earth is absorbing more energy from the Sun than it is radiating to space as heat, even during the recent solar minimum. The inferred planetary energy imbalance, 0.58±0.15Wm−2 during the 6-yr period 2005–2010, confirms the dominant role of the human-made greenhouse effect in driving global climate change.
This imbalance is the primary driver for global warming, since more energy is coming in than leaving and, because it occurred during a period when the sun was emitting comparatively low levels of energy, the imbalance has implications for the cause of global warming. The results of the study confirm greenhouse gases produced by human activities are the most important driver of global climate change, according to the researchers. Texas Heat Wave & Drought Linked to Rapid Global Warming by NASA’s James Hansen
The Texas heat wave and Texas drought that occurred over three months last summer where the temperatures in Texas rose higher than at any time in recorded history, and the state is still in the midst of the most expensive drought in the states history. But can the 2011 Texas heat wave and Texas drought be linked to global warming?
Some of us do associate these extreme weather events like this list of worst storms – natural disasters 2011 to global warming. However it is an entirely different world for scientists, and it is even difficult to get accross the fact that climate change is going on or is man made, however those attempts to discredit the science have been reduced greatly by the Koch led study into whether or not global warming is real. Coal Mine Disaster List Man Made Disasters Causes and Effects Part 5
To see the entire coal mine disaster list for America alone since 1839 would be a feat, however the CDC National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has a list of incidents with 5 or more fatalities, which consists of 623 records. The number of metal and non-metal mining disasters is much less than that of coal mines, amounting to roughly 14.4% of the total mining disasters in the US. We will list only the most significant here in keeping with our man made disasters list format, and will continue to add as time goes along.
