Cleveland Volcano in Alaska Aleutian Islands On Verge of Another Eruption?

Cleveland Volcano in Alaska Aleutian Islands On Verge of Another Eruption? (This photo of the Volcano was captured by an Expedition 13 Flight Engineer Jeff Williams from International Space Station (ISS) on May 23, 2006. Shortly after this photo was obtained, he immediately contacted the Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) to inform what was currently happening.)

The Cleveland Volcano in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands may be on the verge of another eruption, as new satellite imagery of the 5,676-foot peak, located about 940 miles southwest of Anchorage in Alaska’s remote Aleutian islands, shows a new, bulging lava dome forming in the volcano’s summit crater, suggesting a buildup of gas pressure.

Even though the volcano is in an uninhabited area, an eruption could still cause a big mess. According to CNN, some 90 percent of air freight from Asia to Europe and North America passes over Alaska, along with hundreds of commercial flights.

Officials say that intermittent and sudden explosions could happen at any time, generating ash clouds up to 20,000 feet above sea level. Continue Reading Cleveland Volcano in Alaska Aleutian Islands On Verge of Another Eruption? Here

Texas Heat Wave & Drought Linked to Rapid Global Warming by NASA's James Hansen Images

The Texas heat wave and drought linked to rapid global climate change according to NASA’s James Hansen.

The Texas heat wave and Texas drought that occurred over three months last summer where the temperatures in Texas rose higher than at any time in recorded history, and the state is still in the midst of the most expensive drought in the states history. But can the 2011 Texas heat wave and Texas drought be linked to global warming?

Some of us do associate these extreme weather events like this list of worst storms – natural disasters 2011 to global warming. However it is an entirely different world for scientists, and it is even difficult to get accross the fact that climate change is going on or is man made, however those attempts to discredit the science have been reduced greatly by the Koch led study into whether or not global warming is real. Rare January Tornadoes Touch Down in Indiana, Kentucky and Mississippi

Rare January tornadoes touched down in Mississippi, Indiana and Kentucky on Tuesday, including one that hit a home in Mississippi and injured at least one person, meteorologists reported.

In a rare winter event, at least up to this date, rare January tornadoes in Indiana and Kentucky knocked out power lines, downed trees and caused property damage, while a Sheriff’s Department dispatcher said the Mississippi tornado struck a home in south Marion County, and a person who was inside suffered a possible broken arm.

Tornadoes are not normal for this time of the year in Indiana and neighboring Kentucky, however twisters can occasionally hit Mississippi during the winter months, said Dan Pydynowski, senior meteorologist at AccuWeather.com, whose company provides forecasting services. List of Worst Storms - Natural Disasters 2011

List of Worst Storms – Natural Disasters 2011

Our list of worst natural disasters – storms of 2011 has grown in size since the 2010 list we did. 2011 was worse in terms of natural disasters. Regions from around the world were literally slammed with extreme weather events and catastrophes resulting in huge economic costs and devastation not to mention massive death tolls devastating populations. Does climate change play a role in all this, more than likely, as these once termed ‘storms of the century’ are now occurring nearly every year and getting worse every year for that matter as well.

The U.S. again broke its record for billion-dollar weather disasters. The Associated Press reported that in 2011, the U.S. saw more weather catastrophes costing at least $1 billion in damage each than it had experienced throughout all of the 1980s.

Devastating Tornadoes ripped through the U.S., devastating cities like as Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Joplin, Missouri.

One of the biggest stories of the year was the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March, killing thousands and wreaking havoc at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant.

Heat waves over the summer scorched the U.S. and Texas suffered from fires and its worst drought in decades. An earthquake rattled the East Coast in October, and Hurricane Irene followed shortly thereafter. Continue Reading List of Worst Storms – Natural Disasters 2011 Here
