Mid-Atlantic Wind Farms Move Forward With Obama Plan Using National Ocean Policy Smart-From-The-Start
The Obama administration on Thursday, 2/2/2012 moved forward with plans to develop the enormous Mid-Atlantic offshore wind farms for developing wind energy resources, using the new approach that has the potential to expedite the process while incorporating strong environmental protections, according to the Natural Resources Defense Council.
The administration released plans for developing waters off New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. Offshore wind power could create thousands of jobs and generate power for millions of homes in the region. Keystone XL Pipeline Deal Rejected By President Obama
In defense of his actions of rejecting the permit, Obama placed blame on the Republicans in Congress, who in using brinkmanship forced passage of a measure late last month requiring the administration to render a decision on the pipeline by Feb. 21. Clean Energy – Future Of Clean Energy in US from Secretary of Energy Chu
Clean energy sounds like a great idea for most people, and Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, in his speech to the Washington Post Live Smart Energy Conference on Nov. 3, 2011 mentioned our choices in America are to either surrender of take advantage of the huge economic opportunities that are becoming available in the smart energy race. Why can’t we afford to offer the same amount of incentives and subsidies that we do to fossil fuels, or do they have that much of a grip on our government at this point? Here is the speech from Secretary Chu.
On a windy day at Kitty Hawk on December 17, 1903, the Wright Brothers launched the world’s first powered airplane to achieve human flight – and with it, a whole new industry. For the next several years, they led the world. What is less appreciated is that the United States lost the technology lead in airplanes by the beginning of World War I. Although the U.S. military was the first and major customer of the Wright Brothers and their competitor, Glenn Curtiss, between 1908 and 1913, the United States ranked 14th in government investment in aviation. The low level of government showed: When we entered the war in 1917, we were so far behind that our allies convinced us to produce European designed aircraft.Continue Reading Clean Energy – Future Of Clean Energy in US from Secretary of Energy Chu Here

Rising Oil and Gas Prices Will Continue As We Reach Peak Oil
Oil and gas prices are vital to the economy, because when they rise, so do the prices of everything else. Oil plays such a major part of our current economy, and is why it is referred to as a oil economy at times. This black gold is used in the production of, harvesting of, manufacturing of, and transportation of nearly everything that we touch each and every day. We had the first glimpse of an oil crisis in 1973 with the oil embargo, and developed a short term energy policy which disappeared just as fast as the oil embargo. Then again,in 1979, we had another oil shortage due to the Iranian incident during the Jimmy Carter Administration, and developed another short term inept energy policy. Nuclear Power The Pros and Cons of Nuclear Energy
A Guide to Nuclear Power Pros and Cons and How it Affects Us and the Environment
Introduction
Nuclear power is a form of energy. It is not dependent on fossil fuels or any fossil fuel, such as coal or natural gas. While many of us associate the word nuclear with atomic bombs, it has many more constructive uses. Nuclear energy can be used to power homes, businesses, and supply electricity to large numbers of people. There are, of course, pros and cons to this form of power. Following is something about what nuclear energy is and how it works, its history, and some nuclear power pros and cons for this type of energy.
What Is Nuclear Energy?
When the nuclei of certain atoms are split, they release energy. The process of atom-splitting is called nuclear fission. Normally, all elements have the same number of protons and neutrons in their nuclei. The exception to this is hydrogen, an atom with an unequal number of protons and neutrons. This makes hydrogen very unstable and therefore easier to split. This is why atomic bombs were also called hydrogen bombs, or H-bombs. Now, uranium is the element that is usually used.
