GOP Led House Passes Cut Version Of Obama’s Energy Bill By $6 Billion
The bill included an amendment that allows companies to continue to make and sell old-school 100 watt light bulbs after January 1, 2012, when they were originally scheduled to be phased out. Previously, Republicans have tried to overturn a 2007 law requiring light bulbs to be more energy efficient starting in 2012, but all previous attempts have failed. The new House bill also blocks the Obama Administration from closing the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste project in Nevada. The government has already spent $15 billion on the project, but it still not open for business, which is storing spent nuclear fuel from power plants. President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada both want to end the program. Continue Reading GOP Led House Passes Cut Version Of Obama’s Energy Bill By Billion Here

Peace Building A Vision of World Peace in Mankind’s Fight For Survival

Peace Building A Vision of World Peace in Mankind's Fight For Survival - Can we battle nationalism and imperialism? - Is there any better time to start than this holiday season when peace on Earth and goodwill to man is the theme?
Some of us may have different ideas of world peace and of peace building, and these may seem like a vision that is unattainable to some, if not most of us at times. Nationalism and imperialism seem to be major obstacles in attaining these goals, as we will further review those two topics later on in the article. To begin with, from the Free Dictionary by Farlex.
- Peace
-
- The absence of war or other hostilities.
- An agreement or a treaty to end hostilities.
- Freedom from quarrels and disagreement; harmonious relations.
- Public Security and order.
- Inner contentment, serenity (peace of mind).
The timing for this article seems truly important, as on one hand we have destructive weather stretching across the globe, and we have ongoing wars that seem to have no ongoing peace building attempts, and world peace is but a far reach at best. It is also the holidays, where peace on Earth and goodwill towards man is the theme, and that for most of us, we put our differences away for a few days, and celebrate the birth of Christ, a live together in peace and harmony for the most part. Some of us even manage a smile and some courtesies we normally would not bother with. Continue Reading Peace Building A Vision of World Peace in Mankind’s Fight For Survival Here

Environmental Policy What is an Environmental Policy and What We Need To Focus On
It is useful for us to consider that environmental policy comprises two major terms: environment and policy. Environment primarily refers to the ecological dimension (ecosystems), but can also take account of the social dimension, or quality of life, and as an economic dimension correlating to resource management. The term policy can be defined as a course of action or principle adopted or proposed by a government, party, business or individual. That leaves us with the combined definition that an environmental policy focuses on problems arising from human impact on the environment, which retro-acts onto human society by having a negative impact on human values such as good health or a healthy, robust environment.
Environmental issues which are typically addressed by standard environmental policies include (but are not limited to) air and water pollution, waste management, ecosystem management, biodiversity protection, and the protection of natural resources, wildlife and endangered species. More recently however, environmental policy has expanded into the communication of environmental issues. Environmental Technology What is Environmental Technology and How Can we Use it?
Currently we have wasteful energy policies, an overuse of natural resources, water supply shortages, man-made global climate change, and deforestation on massive scales are just some of the current issues experts say that we need to be address for humans as a species to achieve sustainable living on this planet. By the year 2025, an estimated addition of 2.9 billion people will strain already strained water supplies, and the world’s energy needs will go up by as much as 60 percent by 2030, according to the United Nations so environmental technology will play a crucial role in our maintaining a sustainable balance.
