A group of researchers at the University of Notre Dame have made a major advance toward this vision by creating an inexpensive “solar paint” that uses semiconducting nanoparticles to produce energy from the light energy of the sun.
“We want to do something trans-formative, to move beyond current silicon-based solar technology,” says Prashant Kamat, John A. Zahm Professor of Science in Chemistry and Biochemistry and an investigator in Notre Dame’s Center for Nano Science and Technology (NDnano), who leads the research. McCormick Adds More Solar Power from Constellation Energy
BALTIMORE–Constellation Energy and McCormick & Company, Inc. today announced an agreement to develop a new 1.8-megawatt (DC) solar photovoltaic power system at the McCormick distribution center in Belcamp, Md. This will be the largest single rooftop solar installation in Maryland, and is the second solar installation developed for McCormick by Constellation Energy.

As the cost of living continues to rise there is a increasing demand for alternative energy resources that can provide cleaner and more cost efficient results to consumers. You just have to look at gas and oil prices to realise that there is indeed a crisis amongst us.
But the problem doesn’t not stop there!
Even the price of electricity is becoming unaffordable and thousands have resorted to turning off their power at certain times – but there is hope! Thanks to recent developments to solar energy research we now have a viable alternative to hydro electricity and provides savings of up to 80% on your Power Bill and contains no carbon emissions making it environmentally friendly.
Buying a Solar Power generator system can be very expensive depending on the size of your home and if you are seriously considering purchasing one expect to pay around $3000 upwards for a unit OR you can learn how to build solar panels and build one from scratch using materials that will cost you no more than $200.
The latter option is much cheaper and not really that hard to do if you have a good guide that can show you step by step how to construct a DIY Solar Panel.
The materials you need can be found in your home and at the local hardware store:
Solar cells that can be bought cheap
Plywood
Copper wire
Sheets of glass
All the materials displayed above can be used to build a DIY solar panel that can output as much as a commercial system on the market. As mentioned before as long as you have a detailed easy to follow guide you’ll have one made in no time.

The International Academy of Astronautics is headed by Madhavan Nair, the former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization. The study was claimed as the first broadly based international assessment of the potential paths to development of these plants in space that would collect solar energy and deliver back to Earth through a wireless power transmission, which was first invented, planned, and tested by genius Nikola Tesla and proven in a test at Colorado Springs in 1899.
The economic feasibility of these types of plants could be achieved in 30 years or less without laying down a road map or developing a specific architecture. According to John Mankins, a veteran of 25 years at NASA and the agencies former head of concepts who led the study; “It is clear that solar energy delivered from space could play a tremendously important role in meeting the global need for energy during the 21st century.” Continue Reading Space Solar Power Plants? EnviroMission is an Australian company, and project planner, says that it would burn absolutely no fuel, and that nothing like it has ever been tried in the USA before this project, or the world for that matter. There has been a small test project in Spain of this type, however, this project would be the second largest structure in the world and only 100 feet less than the Dubai luxury skyscraper, Burj Khalifa. According to Chris Davey, the US operations president, which is located in Phoenix states that: “It would be conceited to say we have the solution, but its a reasonable energy alternative.”
EnviroMission envisions something different than what most people associate with solar power, which is the photovoltaics, or solar panels. Those solar panels are still too costly to be put to use in large scale commercial projects like this one in Arizona. EnviroMission envisions something entirely different in this new project.
