Why Is Organic Farming Bad – If It Is?
Why Is Organic Farming Bad – If It Is?
Why is organic farming bad, if it is? We have been told that organic farming (OF) is good for our health. Proponents have trumpeted the message that OF is good for the environment. How could it possibly be bad?
It seems that, increasingly, life is being divided into traditional and alternative. Each side claims their methods to be better than the others. Each tries to win people to their side. Traditional schooling fights alternative schooling. Conventional medicine fights alternative medicine. Mainstream culture fights alternative subcultures.
Farming, too, is involved in a battle, conventional farming against OF. Environmentalists and those concerned with their health assure us that OF is preferable in many ways. But others argue that OF is bad.

Sustainable Foods Best Tips for Making Sustainable Food Choices

Farmers markets and stands with local food the wave of the future? With food and gas becoming more expense (direct relation), these Sustainable Foods Best Tips for Making Sustainable Food Choices will help both you and the environment!
For foods to be considered sustainable foods, it must meet certain standards to be a sustainable food. These foods are those whose production can be assured over a long term, or sustained, in other words. If a food is grown or produced in a manner that is destructive to the environment or human and animal health, it is not considered to be maintainable.
For example, crops that are heavily sprayed with weed killer, fungicide, and pesticide are not only less healthy for human consumption; the chemicals used in agriculture “kill” the soil eventually, and plants have to be forced to grow by the use of more and more synthetic fertilizers. The dead soil then erodes, creating hazardous, toxic run-off when it’s wet and toxic dust when it’s dry. Ultimately, this type of farming practice cannot be sustained.
Another aspect of sustainability is fossil fuel use. Fruits and vegetables that are shipped long distances require a great deal of fossil fuel as they go from farm to table. Because fossil fuels are a non-renewable energy source, the produce that requires a lot of these fuels are not considered sustainable foods either.
So how can you make choices for sustainable food? Here are some tips to help. Continue Reading Sustainable Foods Best Tips for Making Sustainable Food Choices Here

Biogas – What Is Biogas and How Can Is It Used?
What Is It Made Of?
Biogas is made from organic matter. It is produced by the natural fermentation process. Some of the materials that are used are farm waste (manure), plant matter, sewage, and biomass.
How Is It Made?
This gas is made in large containers called digesters. There are several types of digesters, but one thing they have in common is that they are anaerobic, or without oxygen. It is the action of anaerobic bacteria that produces the biogas. The three main types of digesters are: Continue Reading Biogas – What Is Biogas and How Can Is It Used? Here
