No one with a minimal amount of intelligence can see the global cooling myth or the global warming hoax as nothing more than the propaganda that it is. ‘Merchants of Doubt‘ have been intentionally planting seeds of uncertainty throughout the land, but none come as close to the U.S. in terms of propaganda and denial campaigns. These merchants of doubt are paid well by special interest groups to endlessly question data, dismiss experimental innovation, stress uncertainties, and demand further research. These ‘well paid’ ‘skeptics’ are part of a group that has helped weaken legislation action or brake political momentum on such big issues such as tobacco, acid rain, ozone layer protection and climate change.
Global Warming Hoax
They are the ones primarily responsible for us and our current attitudes about climate change in the U.S., and the far right nut cases we unfortunately have in Washington D.C. supposedly to represent us are nothing more than torch carriers for the skeptics and deniers. Not one member of the right wing now dares to mention anything about climate change anymore, and they all deny it or claim it doesn’t exist. Why are these right wing baggers now switching to anti-environment? We have found the answer, and since 2010, newly elected Republican legislators in state houses across the nation sounded their fear-mongering tactics and declared that the ‘uber-liberal EPA’ was out of control. The only thing the EPA was doing was beginning to introduce climate change regulations to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. These attacks on environmentalism and the environment were unprecedented in their scope and magnitude in the battle of the GOP Vs the Environment, which leads us to question why?
The climate change regulations were something that someone, or a group of global conglomerations were vehemently opposed to, and the ALEC Attacks on the EPA began in earnest, from underfunding the EPA to cut back it’s wings, to cutting water and air pollution regulations. ALEC has been doing this quite some time now, and in 1998 ALEC ratified a model resolution for states to pass calling on the U.S. to reject the Kyoto Protocol and banning states from regulating greenhouse gases in any way. Some of ALEC’s Board of Directors include lobbyists from ExxonMobil, Peabody Energy, and Koch Industries, BP America, Chevron, and the American Gas Association which promotes the extraction of natural gas from shale with a controversial process called fracking. ALEC has had issues with the EPA since 2009 when President Obama put actual environmentalists in charge of the EPA, and not some right wing puppet for big oil, coal, gas, and polluters. ALEC even went so far as to call it the ‘EPA’s regulatory trainwreck’, and created a website called Stop the Trainwreck to further their fear-mongering anti-epa, anti-environment propaganda machine.
One of the best kept secrets is that one of these ‘paid climate change skeptics’ was sanctioned by the Koch Brothers to disprove that temperatures were rising and that the global warming hoax was just that, a hoax. However his results proved that global warming real, and that temperatures were indeed rising.
Global Cooling MythGlobal cooling was a conjecture during the 1970s of imminent cooling of the Earth’s surface and atmosphere along with a posited commencement of glaciation. This hypothesis had little support in the scientific community, but gained temporary popular attention due to a combination of a slight downward trend of temperatures from the 1940s to the early 1970s and press reports that did not accurately reflect the scientific understanding of ice age cycles. In contrast to the global cooling conjecture, the current scientific opinion on climate change is that the Earth has not durably cooled, but undergone warming of the planet throughout the twentieth century and that the global warming hoax is garbage.
Which brings us to this point, that NASA ranks 2011 ninth warmest year ever recorded, and that despite the cooling influences of a powerful La Nina weather pattern, the World Meteorological Organization said that ‘Human activity kept global temperatures close to a record high in 2011‘.Another possible explanation for the recent rash of global cooling garbage may be that China coal consumption linked to global cooling, as scientists have a theory as to why temperatures paused for a bit during the 2,000’s. The theory is this, and seems counter-intuitive, but all the sulfur pollution from China’s massive coal burning industries deflected the sun’s rays and can temporarily cool things down even as the carbon dioxide that contributes to global warming is released. The problem is that sulfurs cooling effects are only temporary, and carbon dioxide last for up to 300 years in the atmosphere.
Chinese coal consumption doubled between 2003 and 2007, and that caused a 26 percent increase in global coal consumption. Now, Chinese leaders have recognized the effects of that pollution on their environment and their citizens’ health and are installing equipment to scrub out the sulfur particles. As a result, the sulfur quickly drops out of the air if it is not replenished, while carbon dioxide remains for a long time, so its warming effects are beginning to be visible again, he noted. The plateau in temperature growth disappeared in 2009 and 2010, when temperatures began their continued climb upwards.
Currently, the concern that cooler temperatures would continue, and perhaps at a faster rate, has been observed to be incorrect by the IPCC. More has to be learned about climate, but the growing records have shown that the cooling concerns of 1975 have not been realized and are of no significant concern.
As for the prospects of the end of the current interglacial (again, valid only in the absence of human perturbations), it isn’t true that interglacials have previously only lasted about 10,000 years; and Milankovitch-type calculations indicate that the present interglacial would probably continue for tens of thousands of years naturally. Other estimates (Loutre and Berger, based on orbital calculations) put the unperturbed length of the present interglacial at 50,000 years. Berger (EGU 2005 presentation) believes that the present CO2 perturbation will last long enough to suppress the next glacial cycle entirely. As the NAS report indicates, scientific knowledge regarding climate change was more uncertain years ago than it is today. At the time that Rasool and Schneider wrote their 1971 paper, climatologists had not yet recognized the significance of greenhouse gases other than water vapor and carbon dioxide, such as methane, nitrous oxide, and chlorofluorocarbons. Early in that decade, carbon dioxide was the only widely studied human-influenced greenhouse gas. The attention drawn to atmospheric gases in the 1970s stimulated many discoveries in future decades however. As the temperature pattern changed, global cooling was of waning interest by 1979, however those who stand to gain from climate change denial in the form of the global warming hoax and the global cooling myth would try and have you believe otherwise.
But back to the global warming hoax and global cooling myths exposed, one of the most common misunderstandings amongst climate “skeptics” is the difference between short-term noise and long-term signal. In fact, “it hasn’t warmed since 1998” is ninth on the list of most-used climate myths, and “it’s cooling” is fifth.
This myth stems from a lack of understanding of exactly what global warming is. The term refers to the long-term warming of the global climate, usually measured over a timescale of about 30 years, as defined by the World Meteorological Organization. This is because global warming is caused by a global energy imbalance — something causing the Earth to retain more heat, such as an increase in solar radiation reaching the surface, or an increased greenhouse effect.
There are also a number of effects which can have a large impact on short-term temperatures, such as oceanic cycles like the El Niño Southern Oscillation or the 11-year solar cycle. Sometimes these dampen global warming, and sometimes they amplify it. However, they’re called “oscillations” and “cycles” for a reason — they alternate between positive and negative states and don’t have long-term effects on the Earth’s temperature.Right now we’re in the midst of a period where most short-term effects are acting in the cooling direction, thus dampening the warming of the planet. Many climate “skeptics” are trying to capitalize on this dampening, trying to argue that this time global warming has stopped, even though it didn’t stop after the global warming “pauses” in 1973 to 1980, 1980 to 1988, 1988 to 1995, 1995 to 2001, or 1998 to 2005.
So there you have it, the global warming hoax and global cooling myth exposed. Food for thought, who are the only ones that would profit from this garbage? The scientists? Meteorologists? Come on man! Big Energy, coal, gas, and polluters are the ones that rake in the billions from our lapses in judgement and our turning a blind eye to their actions against both humanity and the environment so they can pocket more cash, that is what this is all about, just follow the money and you will find the truth!
