Benefits of Probiotics Why They Are so Beneficial to Our Health

The benefits of probiotics are many, which is why they are so beneficial to our health. A lack of those important healthy intestinal bacteria (or flora) has been implicated in a wide variety of diseases, including the classic diseases of the bowel such as Crohn’s disease and colitis. Although probiotics, which is the terminology used for these good intestinal bacteria, they are generally associated with good intestinal health, and as it turns out, other body systems can also benefit from probiotic supplementation. People who supplement with these have obtained considerable relief from a wide variety of conditions as new research indicates that is is also effective in other gastrointestinal dysfunctions such as diarrhea, as well as the immune system and conditions such as allergies in children, adults and the elderly. .

Probiotics What Are They?

They are a form of bacteria that is all around good for us. Your intestine has bacteria that could, if they multiply too quickly, cause illness and disease, however, it also has good bacteria that work on your behalf, destroying harmful pathogens, or the bad bacteria. List of Drinking Water Contaminants & Their Maximum Contaminant Level: Micro-Organisms

Below is a chart for the List of Drinking Water Contaminants & Their Maximum Contaminant Level for Micro-Organisms

Notes:

Groundwater Contaminants Chart

1 Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) – The level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for a margin of safety and are non-enforceable public health goals. Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) – The highest level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to MCLGs as feasible using the best available treatment technology and taking cost into consideration. MCLs are enforceable standards. Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level Goal (MRDLG) – The level of a drinking water disinfectant below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MRDLGs do not reflect the benefits of the use of disinfectants to control microbial contaminants. (TT) Treatment Technique – A required process intended to reduce the level of a contaminant in drinking water. Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level (MRDL) – The highest level of a disinfectant allowed in drinking water. There is convincing evidence that addition of a disinfectant is necessary for control of microbial contaminants. Tap Water Safe? Not from the looks of this glass of it!

Tap water safe? Do you know what’s in your tap water? There are growing concerns about the safety of our water, and it is understandable when you consider the chemicals used to disinfect municipal water and the microbial organisms that can survive such sanitation measures. Not to mention all the toxins we have released, and in some cases are still releasing into the environment.

Here is a partial list of some of the common chemicals and life forms that may be present in municipal water and how to test for them. Bear in mind that government regulations are not designed to keep all harmful microbes or chemicals out of water, but to keep these elements at acceptable levels. For some people, any amount of certain chemicals, no matter how low, is too much. Continue Reading Tap Water Safe? Do You Know What’s In Your Tap Water? Here

Germany Cucumber Crisis Grows as 14 Reported Dead

On Monday, Germany held cucumber crisis talks amid reports that at least 14 people have died and hundreds more have fallen ill in an outbreak of a highly virulent strain of bacteria that was linked to imported cucumbers.

Belgium and Russia have banned the import of vegetables from Spain, which is believed to be the source of at least some of the contaminated cucumbers. Madrid released a response saying it would seek financial compensation from the European Union for lost sales.

European health officials said there was currently no indication that raw milk or meat is associated with the outbreak. As a safety precaution, many German supermarkets and shops removed all Spanish-grown vegetables from their shelves. Continue Reading Germany Cucumber Crisis Grows as 14 Reported Dead Here

Lead In Lipstick and Other Unhealthy Cosmetics, check the labels and buy only the healthy cosmetics like lead free lipstick! Moral of the story is don't make yourself sick trying to make yourself look better!

Lead in lipstick and other unhealthy cosmetics, and understand that cosmetics are intended to enhance your appearance, but there are some dangerous chemicals that may be lurking in your make-up which may over the course of time be detrimental to your appearance! Here are some of the more common toxic chemicals and the cosmetics where they can be found.

1. Lead

Once thought to be an urban legend, a recent study confirmed the presence of lead in some lipsticks. However, the amount of lead present is very small – FDA regulations restrict the amount of lead in a particular red dye, for instance, to twenty parts per million. Nonetheless, the lead is present, and cumulative effects from the daily use of lipstick should not be ruled out. The health risks of lead exposure are fairly well known, and include neurological and reproductive disorders. You should search for a lead free lipstick which can eliminate this unhealthy item from your cosmetics ingredients. Lead free lipstick can be found at most retail stores that carry a good selection of cosmetics, with some major brands in the mix like Revlon, Este Lauder, The Body Shop, Wet N Wild, and Avon.
