Texas Heat Wave & Drought Linked to Rapid Global Warming by NASA’s James Hansen
The Texas heat wave and Texas drought that occurred over three months last summer where the temperatures in Texas rose higher than at any time in recorded history, and the state is still in the midst of the most expensive drought in the states history. But can the 2011 Texas heat wave and Texas drought be linked to global warming?
Some of us do associate these extreme weather events like this list of worst storms – natural disasters 2011 to global warming. However it is an entirely different world for scientists, and it is even difficult to get accross the fact that climate change is going on or is man made, however those attempts to discredit the science have been reduced greatly by the Koch led study into whether or not global warming is real. A Sense of Urgency is Needed if Greenhouse Gases are to Peak in Time
According to an article from the UNEP dated February 23, 2010 “Countries will have to be far more ambitious in cutting these emissions if the world is to effectively curb the rise in global temperature by 2°C or less. This is the conclusion of a new greenhouse gas modeling study based on the estimates of researchers at nine leading centers, compiled by the UN environment program (UNEP).” Continue Reading A Sense of Urgency is Needed if Greenhouse Gases are to Peak in Time Here

Peace Building A Vision of World Peace in Mankind’s Fight For Survival

Peace Building A Vision of World Peace in Mankind's Fight For Survival - Can we battle nationalism and imperialism? - Is there any better time to start than this holiday season when peace on Earth and goodwill to man is the theme?
Some of us may have different ideas of world peace and of peace building, and these may seem like a vision that is unattainable to some, if not most of us at times. Nationalism and imperialism seem to be major obstacles in attaining these goals, as we will further review those two topics later on in the article. To begin with, from the Free Dictionary by Farlex.
- Peace
- The absence of war or other hostilities.
- An agreement or a treaty to end hostilities.
- Freedom from quarrels and disagreement; harmonious relations.
- Public Security and order.
- Inner contentment, serenity (peace of mind).
The timing for this article seems truly important, as on one hand we have destructive weather stretching across the globe, and we have ongoing wars that seem to have no ongoing peace building attempts, and world peace is but a far reach at best. It is also the holidays, where peace on Earth and goodwill towards man is the theme, and that for most of us, we put our differences away for a few days, and celebrate the birth of Christ, a live together in peace and harmony for the most part. Some of us even manage a smile and some courtesies we normally would not bother with. Continue Reading Peace Building A Vision of World Peace in Mankind’s Fight For Survival Here

2010 Climate Bill
The 2010 Climate Bill appears to be dead according to a dozen of our senators out of 16 surveyed. With the economy still a mess and jobs scarce, lawmakers see little chance of passing legislation which might hinder economic recovery and growth. The amount of people whom believe climate change and global warming are a hoax has more than doubled, and those whom do believe that global warming is real and caused by humans is at 10 percent. So now they are talking about expanding offshore drilling, building more nuclear power plants and requiring a portion of the U.S. electric supply to be generated by renewable sources.

This moral and ethics statement was prepared in the recognition of the fact that our nation has a moral obligation to address climate change in light of the fact that:
1) Climate change is a real, dangerous, and rapidly worsening problem with deep moral implications.
2) The US has done little to reduce its contributions to the crisis
The statement made by the group asserts that the United States has both a duty and a moral duty to prevent unjustifiable suffering and death amongst current and future generations in both the United States and across the globe.
