24 Hours of Reality Live

It’s time for the world to face the realities of climate change, and that time is now!

That is the message expressed by Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project, which has launched “24 Hours of Reality,” an event beginning at 7pm CT (8pm ET) on September 14, and running for 24 hours straight. It is a global event featuring 24 presenters in 24 time zones, who “will connect the dots between recent extreme weather events — including floods, droughts and storms along with the manmade pollution that is changing our climate.”

The event comes on the heels of hurricanes, droughts, and other extreme weather events slamming the United States, and as the country ended its second-hottest summer ever recorded.

Kevin Trenberth, a senior scientist with the National Center for Atmospheric Research, said “There is now a pervasive human influence in all climate events.”

In a recent Mediaite interview with Climate Reality Project’s Alex Bogusky, Gore said:

Powerful polluters … see it as a useful strategy to try to convince the public that the scientists are liars and that they’re greedy and they’re making stuff up. All in the service of their overarching strategy of creating enough doubt to persuade people that there shouldn’t be any sense of urgency about addressing this crisis.

In anticipation of the event, the Climate Reality Project released video ads suggesting that when it comes to the climate crisis, “the fat lady has sung and the *#!? is hitting the fan.”

You can watch the “24 Hours of Reality” event livestream in English here, beginning at 8pm ET, or click here to find the location where you would like to watch a presentation.

Stay tuned in to the Climate Reality Project and help to save the planet and we hope you enjoy the 24 Hours of Reality Live! Peace my friends and Godspeed!

Earth rising on the horizon..

Global warming and climate change have been in the news more lately with all the recent extreme weather events. The image to the left is just a glimpse of earth from orbit during a solar eclipse, and just goes to show how much of an impact that the sun has on our planet. The potential for disaster on our fragile planet is high, even before we existed, let alone some of the things we have done. The possibilities are nearly endless, and maybe the sun gets hotter, or the Earth’s rotation changes speed, or our axis shifts by a tenth of a degree. These could all create major problems which could very likely threaten life on this planet as we know it. Another concern, which is at the forefront of most everyone’s agenda lately, or which should be is what impact, or byproducts of our living on this planet has caused. Groundhog Day 2011

We anxiously await Punxsutawney Phil for his appearance on February 2 2011

This Groundhog Day 2011 is right around the corner, as in exactly 1 day, February arrives, which means this low echelon holiday is right around the corner for us. Let’s be blunt. When it comes to Groundhog Day, there are two vocal camps, one of which holds this unheralded holiday to be one of the most, if not the most boring and least celebrated and recognized holidays that we have. I myself, am slightly partial to the holiday myself, and watch Groundhog Day on DVD every year to celebrate. For this holiday in 2011 there will, of course, be no exception to the watching of the Bill Murray classic movie. After a few months of dreary weather we can look forward to the little varmint declaring that winter will soon be over, or we will have another 6 weeks of the dreary wintry weather to deal with, at least in theory. How accurate his forecast is remains to be seen, but taken in context, it does have some credibility as animals are better judges of their environment than we are I imagine.

In real life, Punxsutawney, PA is the home of Phil and of the Groundhog Day activities of which this furry oracle is the center. Continue Reading Groundhog Day 2011 Here
