Green Cars List & Guide How to Choose one and What are the Best Green Cars

Green cars are becoming more mainstream today, for a variety of reasons. Here in America we still have plenty of climate change deniers that either don’t think it is happening or that it is not man made, however, that is not the subject today. The fact of the matter is that higher fuel prices can drive people to greener automobiles whom otherwise wouldn’t care one way or the other about how good the vehicle is for the environment. So we have those whom choose these cars to save money on gas, and then we have those who choose these cars to help the environment. In either case, it is good for the planet and everyone!

The EPA Green Vehicle Guide is a good place to obtain relevant information regarding the environmental performance of green cars and provides guests with dynamic search and sorting options. You can make side by side comparisons with up to three vehicles and you can also customize your searches, and even include photos!

The list is based upon the Greenhouse Gas Score, which reflects the emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases. This score is related to a vehicles fuel economy of course, as those with higher fuel efficiency will burn less gas thereby emitting less CO2. Other criteria includes the type of fuel burned as different fuels contain differing amounts of carbon. The higher the score in this category, the better! Biomass Energy: What are the Biomass Advantages and the Biomass Disadvantages

When it comes to biomass energy, of course there are biomass advantages and biomass disadvantages. There are distinct good and bad qualities of using this alternative fuel for energy. There are several differing opinions of course, some of which rest upon financial considerations and may be biased, so we will try and eliminate all the biased schools of thought on this hot topic.

Biomass Energy Advantages and Disadvantages

Biomass Advantages

1.) When this is used as a fuel, it reduces the need for fossil fuels for the production of heat, steam, and electricity for the grid, including residential, industrial and agricultural uses.

2.) This fuel is one of the most abundant resources in the world, and it is always available and can be reproduced, seeing that it is a renewable energy source. With proper conservation practices, any plants, shrubs or trees that are harvested to produce energy can be replaced over a period of time. Explosion and Oil spill Add To Fukushima Nuclear Plant Woes

Explosion and Oil spill Add To Fukushima Nuclear Plant Woes

An oil spill and a small explosion have caused limited damage, but no further radiation leaks at the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant in northeastern Japan, as released in a statement by TEPCO on Tuesday.

Some of the workers at Fukushima Dai-ichi plant discovered an oil spill in the ocean near reactors five and six, which were in shutdown when the earthquake and subsequent tsunami struck on March 11, 2011, according to Tokyo Electric Power Co. The spill was contained by an oil fence, TEPCO spokesman Taichi Okazaki said.

The explosion that the workers heard at reactor number four was more than likely from a gas tank and did not cause any additional radiation leaks, Okazaki said. The causes of the spill and explosion are currently under investigation. Continue Reading Explosion and Oil spill Add To Fukushima Nuclear Plant Woes Here

Toyota Recall Toyota Announces Voluntary Recall of Certain Lexus Models Jan 26 2011 in North America and a Separate one for Non North American Cars

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., for Toyota Recall, and today, January 26, 2011 announced that it is conducting a voluntary Safety Recall involving approximately 245,000 2006 through 2007 Lexus GS300/350, 2006 through early 2009 Lexus IS250, and 2006 through early 2008 Lexus IS350 vehicles sold in the U.S. to inspect the fuel pressure sensor installation.

Due to insufficient tightening of the fuel pressure sensor connected to certain engine fuel delivery pipes (those with Nickel Phosphorus plating), there is a possibility that the pressure sensor could loosen over time. If loosening occurs, fuel could leak past a gasket used in the connection between the sensor and the delivery pipe and through the threaded portion of the sensor. Biodiesel Facts Reasons That You Should Consider Switching to Biodiesel

Biodiesel Facts Reasons That You Should Consider Switching to it!

Some of the Biodiesel facts are top reasons you should consider switching to Biodiesel (BD), mainly because it is considered a “green” fuel. It is made from plant-based oils such as sunflower, flax, and soybean oils or the ubiquitous “vegetable oil.” But you can’t just pour vegetable oil into your gas tank. BD is a mix of vegetable oil and alcohol (usually ethanol, which is derived from corn). The glycerin inherent in the vegetable oil needs to be separated out, and then the BD must be mixed with the alcohol in the right proportions. You have to have a diesel engine for this green fuel to work.

Pros

* Biodiesel is renewable. Unlike fossil fuels, which will eventually run out, BD is plant based, so the source of the oil can be grown again.

* Diesel engines do well with the solvency and lubricating effect of this type of diesel fuel. Therefore, your engine maintenance costs will be less.

* You will save a great deal on fuel. It is also quite cheap. Some people “harvest” the massive amounts of cooking oil that restaurants throw out. Continue Reading Biodiesel Facts Reasons That You Should Consider Switching to Biodiesel Here

Vegetable Oil as Fuel Pros and Cons of

Vegetable Oil as Fuel Pros and Cons of, and with the use of it to power vehicle engines gaining popularity, it is also gaining viability as the technology improves. There are both pros and cons involved in using it to power vehicle engines, however. Here are some to consider.

Pros

1. Abundant – This oil is everywhere, especially if you include used cooking oil from restaurants. Even conversion kits, which allow you to convert this oil for use in a standard diesel engine, are easily obtained. Continue Reading Vegetable Oil as Fuel Pros and Cons of Here
