Arkansas Dead Birds and Fish In Arkansas

Some Arkansas Dead Birds And Fish are among the weird things that have been going on in Arkansas lately. Just before the clock striking 0:0:01 on January 1, 2011, approximately 5,000 birds fell down from the sky, and several days later nearly 100,000 dead fished washed up along the shores of the Arkansas River.

Experts are claiming that the two events are not in any way connected, they are still trying to find the source of what killed both the birds and the fish. There are also the conspiracy theories that are amassing as the tin hatters are claiming everything from government testing, military testing or other government related conspiracy.

According to expert scientists, mass fish kills occur every year, but Arkansas state spokesman Keith Stephens indicated that a disease may have been responsible for the massive numbers of dead drum fish. “The fish kill only affected one species of fish,” he said. “If it was from a pollutant, it would have affected all of the fish, not just drum fish.” Continue Reading Arkansas Dead Birds and Fish In Arkansas Here

Green Infrastructure – What is Green Infrastructure?

Green Infrastructure What is a Green Infrastructure?

Green Infrastructure What is a Green Infrastructure?

Green infrastructure – What is green infrastructure you ask? It is the interconnected network of open spaces and natural areas, such as greenways, wetlands, parks, forest preserves and native plant vegetation, that manages stormwater, reduces flooding risk and improves water quality naturally. This infrastructure usually costs less to install and maintain when compared to traditional forms of unnatural infrastructure. These natural infrastructure projects also can engage community cohesiveness by encouraging all community residents to get involved in the planning, planting and maintenance of the sites.

Green infrastructure (GI) is an approach that communities can choose to maintain healthy waters, provide multiple environmental benefits and support more sustainable communities. Unlike our current model of single-purpose gray stormwater infrastructure, which utilizes a network of pipes and drains to dispose of rainwater, a GI uses natural and native vegetation and soil to manage the rainwater right where it falls. By weaving natural processes into the built environment, green infrastructure provides not only stormwater management, but also flood mitigation, air quality management, and many more potential benefits. Record Shattering March Heat Wave Surprises Scientists

Record shattering March heat wave sent people to the beaches in droves

The record shattering March heat wave has come as a surprise even to a majority of scientists. In fact, it’s been so warm in the United States alone this year, especially in March, that national records weren’t just shattered, they were literally baked!

Temperatures in the U.S. for the lower 48 states averaged 8.6 degrees above normal for March alone and an astonishing 6 degrees higher than average for the entire first three months of the year 2012, according to calculations made by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). That by far exceeds, or shatters in our opinion the existing records.

Some meteorologists who have warned about the effects of global warming have become alarmed at the magnitude of how unusual the year has been in the United States. One climate scientist said the record march heat wave is like the weather equivalent of a baseball player on steroids, with old records being obliterated, like the home run records during the big steroid era in major league baseball. Environmentalism What Happened to Environmentalism and What we can do to Save it!

Environmentalism has been around for quite some time now, however the more recent environmental laws are by far the most extensive in terms of protections for the environment. It can mean a few different things seeing as it is a broad philosophy, ideology and social movement that concern environmental conservation and move towards improving the health of our environment, not only of how it relates to us, but to incorporate the concerns of non-human elements as well.

Environmentalism and environmentalists are advocates for the preservation, restoration and improvement of the natural environment and may considered as the effort by humans to control our own pollution. This has inspired new concepts like Land Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Biodiversity, Ecology, and the Biophilia hypothesis.

The problem we are facing now is that our current laws to protect and conserve the environment in the name of environmentalism are in danger of being watered down, reduced or even altogether eliminated by big multinational corporations whom place record breaking profits and greed over corporate social responsibilities and the environmentalism movement may be in serious danger. Children And The Environment How to Raise Environmentally Responsible Kids

If you are concerned about the future of your children and the environment, it makes sense to raise your children to be environmentally responsible. After all, the future belongs to them. Investing in your kids and making them aware of the planet is one of the most environmentally responsible things you can do.

Here are some ideas on how you can raise your kids to respect the planet and want to preserve it.

* Foster a love of nature in your kids. Get out into it and go on hikes, field trips (literally), picnics, cookouts, camping, and fishing trips. Consider getting bikes for the family and going out biking in the woods or on trails. Take your kids to play in a nearby park or encourage them to play outdoors in your yard. This means limiting television and other electronic pursuits. Continue Reading Children And The Environment How to Raise Environmentally Responsible Kids Here

Girl Scout Cookies Newest Addition Savannah Smiles Makes us Smile ;)

Savannah Smiles

Savannah Smiles

Girl Scout Cookies season begins with a bang as they introduce the newest member of the collection, Savannah Smiles, which sounds like a real taste bud pleaser. The tasters int he testing all concur that these nibbles are just fine, but they are no Samoas, Tagalongs or my all time favorite and probably yours, Thin Mints.

Girl Scout Cookies will be delivered beginning the week of Jan. 30 in 2012 and will be sold at booths at local retailers and financial institutions through mid-March.

These new cookies seemingly attempt a “smile” shape, but in reality they look like half-moons. They just don’t look all that good on a plate, however if you are creative and add a few artsy additions like some colors and variety they will look perfect. The point is here, it is food, and however attractive it is or not, it is the taste that counts, right? Continue Reading Girl Scout Cookies Newest Addition Savannah Smiles Makes us Smile ;) Here
