Healthy Halloween Treats for Trick or Treat

Healthy Halloween treats for trick or treat can make kids happy, and also help keep them healthy. While many may frown on the idea, these are some delicious treats that the trick or treat gang are sure to enjoy, and so will your kids.

Real Treats, no Tricks: Opt for low sugar, chemical and preservative-free snacks to hand out, like Larabar minis, Stretch Island Fruit strips, Endangered Species Bug Bites, Nature’s Path treat-sized Peanut Choco Drizzle Crispy Rice Bars, Revolution Foods Yo Drops, Glee Gum minis and Surf Sweets Organic Sour Berry Bears, all part of Green Halloween, a non-profit started by a mom in an effort to clean up her kid’s goodie bags.

Tasty VeggieCakes: Take a cupcake and turn it into a veggie-packed treat. Add 1/3 Cup cooked and pureed yam and add to yellow cake mix, 1/4 Cup pureed red beets to chocolate cake mix and ¼ Cup canned pumpkin to spice cake mix. They won’t even taste them in there! Plus, the veggies will make them super moist. You can even add ¼ cup cooked, pureed veggies like sweet potato or carrots into 8 oz. of frosting, and voila – a festive orange topping. The way children should be enjoying their childhood!

Years ago, summertime meant the sound of children playing in neighborhood yards. These days, however, yards remain silent as kids are camped out in front of computers, televisions, and video games. To help the health of our children and get them in touch with nature, we need to get them back outside. Here are some ways to encourage housebound children to enjoy the outdoors.

1. Get outside yourself – If your children see you sitting in front of the TV all evening, they will follow suit and won’t be motivated to get outside. Getting outdoors is healthy for adults, too, so do your whole family a favor and invite them outside for a group game of Frisbee, horseshoes, or a nature walk. The first step to getting your kids outdoors is to lead them there. Continue Reading Back to Nature How to Encourage Today’s Housebound Children to Explore the Great Outdoors Here

NOOO Don't Touch That! Child Safety How to Keep Your Kids Safe With a Child Proof Home

Are you concerned with child safety and want to keep your kids safe with a child proof home? Is your house safe for your kids? We often think of safety hazards as sharp edges or open sockets. But, what about some common items around the house and could they become poisons in the wrong hands or mixtures?
