June 1 2011 At Least 2 Tornadoes Touchdown in Western Massachusetts Killing at least one and injuring many others. Video below

A tornado has touched down Wednesday June 1 2011 at approximately 4:20 PM in heavily populated western Massachusetts, more specifically, Springield, the third most populous city in the state. The  tornado created widespread damage, local authorities said, as the Northeast braced for a barrage of heavy thunderstorms, hail and accompanied by high winds.

An official tornado watch was in effect from the Philadelphia area to northern Maine near the Canadian border until early evening, but has been extended for some areas, including Massachusetts, Northern Connecticut, Southern New Hampshire and Central Rhode Island until 11 PM EST, the National Weather Service reported. Parts of the region also were under a thunderstorm watch that threatened to bring hail and wind gusts as strong as 70 miles per hour.

According to the National Weather Service Spokesman Chris Vaccaro, “there was a tornado on the ground and reports of widespread damage in Hampden, Massachusetts, and also reports of damage in Springfield.” Continue Reading June 1 2011 At Least 2 Tornadoes Touchdown in Western Massachusetts & Video Here

A Tornado Watch has been issued in some States and Counties in the United States today. This is because system of strong storms is headed straight for the northeastern United States, prompting a National Weather Service alert for a tornado watch for a wide area until 8PM. Eastern Time tonight June 1, 2011.

FOR NORTHERN CONNECTICUT AND MASSACHUSETTS AND SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE AND CENTRAL RHODE ISLAND.

The tornado watch extends from New Jersey to Maine, and it includes the cities of New York, Philadelphia, Boston, as well as Newark, Hartford and Providence.

This is an alert from National Weather Service:

Wild about Wildlife – The National Wildlife Federation

The National Wildlife Federation, or NWF, believes that America’s wildlife belongs to the people. Interestingly, it was the work of a cartoonist, Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling, who formed the base of the NWF. The conservationist nature of Darling’s work caught the attention of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. In 1934, the president promoted him to head of the U.S. Biological Survey. Darling went on to gather conservationists from all over to form the General Wildlife Federation. This would later become the NWF.

The NWF’s Work

On its website nwf.org, the NWF says it desires to inspire people to preserve and protect wildlife through a “strategic plan that accommodates change.” Its mission is to “to inspire Americans to protect wildlife for our children’s future.” The NWF is therefore flexible in its approach. They are willing to take varying approaches to reach various people. Continue Reading Wild about Wildlife The National Wildlife Federation Here

Get your schedules here! Get the Vote Out 2010!

Stewart/Colbert Rally to Restore Sanity Schedule at the National Mall is to be held Saturday, October 30th, 2010 and will be going from 12 PM to 3 PM eastern standard time, with a pre-pre show from 10 AM to 12 PM for those whom arrive early. This rally is expected to draw over 100,000 participants and is set to take place at the National Mall between 3rd Street and 7th Street in what is known as East Seaton Park and Henry Park. This much anticipated event is 72 hours prior to the mid term elections 2010 and is set to satirize the Glen Beck Tea Party rallies. Some see it as a last ditch effort by Barack Obama and the Democratic Party as a last ditch effort to remain on the political forefront as it is slowly eroding from underneath them. On the other hand, it can be seen as a last minute rally to boost morale and voter turnout for the mid term elections 2010 and re-energize the somewhat falling energy and hope of the party.

The March to Keep Fear Alive with a video of the “Sanity and Fear Awards” scheduled. Continue Reading Stewart/Colbert Rally to Restore Sanity Schedule at National Mall Here Here
