The Last Mountain About Coal River Mountain in West Virginia, Strives To Clean Up A Dirty Industry

The Last Mountain, is just about that, Coal River Mountain, the last mountain left in the Coal River Mountain Valley. The information contained in this movie is almost as upsetting, it’s not nearly as amazing as the attitudes of the average Joe type folks who stubbornly stick to the idea that any opposition to mining coal amounts to what they term environmental extremism. This is due, in part, to disinformation, and that wanting a clean environment and to lead a healthy life which is not threatened by toxic pollution is such an extremist idea.

Bill Haney’s new film, The Last Mountain, is a documentary that takes a close look at the impending flattening of the final mountain in a West Virginia area of Appalachia. It is frank in its portrayal of the facts and unsympathetic about its viewpoint. Continue Reading The Last Mountain Strives To Clean Up A Dirty Industry Here

Ethics of Wind Power and Solar Power, wind turbine farm out west.

Going back to the basics is the trend these days, confirming the ethics of wind power and solar power. A growing number of people are now fully aware of the many problems in the world that we created, and are now faced including pollution, depletion of our natural resources, ever increasing populations, and many others. With so many issues we need to deal with, people just don’t have any idea of where to start. In fact, this issue alone may be the reason for some to do nothing, or deny any of the current issues plaguing us today. You don’t have to be a hero and do it by yourself to help save the planet and address its many woes. Here is a thought, take it one day at a time, in baby steps and contribute what you can today, and as it becomes a habit and you are more comfortable with it, it will become a way of life. Change isn’t easy for some, but in time it becomes a way of life, just like learning to walk or ride a bike, it takes practice. We can start today in our own little way by learning about and eventually using both of these sustainable energy sources! Continue Reading Ethics of Wind Power and Solar Power Here

African's Stepping Up To Address Climate Change With Renewable Energy With Enormous Potential For the Continent

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — Africa’s growing economy and reliance on carbon-emitting energy from wood and charcoal could “exponentially” worsen global warming unless the continent steps up its investment in wind, solar and hydro power, the head of a new international energy agency said Friday.

The key to ramping up renewable energy resources is to develop a regulatory framework to convince institutional investors it’s safe to put their money into these cutting-edge technologies, Adnan Amin told nearly 30 African energy and foreign affairs ministers at the start of a two-day meeting.

“If Africa continues to grow at pace it is growing and intensifies that growth and uses only carbon-emitting forms of energy, it will exponentially change the picture on climate change and make it much worse,” said Amin, a Kenyan who is director general of the International Renewable Energy Agency.

“We need right now to start making the kinds of investment that will lead Africa on a very different path,” he said.

Alternative Energy 101 Wind, Solar and Geothermal Alternative Energy Sources

As alternative energy is gaining popularity, wind, solar, and geothermal energy are probably terms your are getting more familiar with. But you may not know about the pros and cons of these, including the set-up costs, potential savings, and other intricate details. Here are some of the basics about these types of sustainable energy.

1. Wind Energy

Wind is a renewable energy source. Even though it comes and goes, it can’t be used up. This makes it an attractive choice for homeowners, and is considered a viable means by which entire communities can be supplied with electricity. The wind’s energy is harnessed by rotating blades of various shapes and sizes (wind turbines). Continue Reading Alternative Energy 101 Wind, Solar and Geothermal Alternative Energy Sources Here

Alternative Energy and Benefits

Sustainable Energy Sources and the benefits we derive from them are many!

Alternative Energy and Benefits

Alternative Energy refers to the electrical energy derived from the renewable resources like wind and solar energy. These resources can be used all over again unlike the single use resources like coal and uranium. Some benefits of using the Renewable Energy Resources are that these are non-emission sources and do not produce any harmful or toxic by products. Another good point is that these resources can be put to task at homes as well to produce electrical energy. As the sources don’t get used up, you can use it again and again without any worries. So solar energy, there are solar panels, wind mills and generators for wind energy, and turbines for water energy. Continue Reading Alternative Energy and Benefits Here
